They describe themselves as Cheap Trick meets Van Halen. They're a perfect college band, and it's good timing, because a lot of college kids will be back for Easter.

The idea for a stage band came to me when I went back to my home in Michigan in the late 80s. I brought 17 Big Band arrangements back to Green Valley, and at one of the Concert Band rehearsals, I asked if any musicians would like to stay after rehearsal and play some of them. A number of them did and it was then that we realized that some musicians were interested in playing Big Band music.

It's going to be a packed gym. They'll probably have their band playing on the stage, all of their students will be there and it will be a hostile crowd, but our kids enjoy that. It's going to be a lot of fun.

[9. The Doors.] They had the complete package: musicianship, lyrics, songs and stage presence, ... But more importantly, their music has far transcended the band (even with the cult-psycho-martyr status of Jim Morrison) and stands the test of time. Matt always thinks that. He got back what he started in the first place. He turned me sideways over there. He's got no room to complain. He started the whole thing and I finished it. He thinks I ran over him and he's screaming about it like he always does. It's amazing.

The average session takes about one to two hours. It's totally amazing because when a person breathes, they go through one stage of relaxation after another, and every stage releases tension.

I see them little kids crying, I just think about my kids, about my son. You see little babies floating in the river. It's amazing. Amazing; these people are still just going. You complain about the littlest things. But we're so fortunate to breathe and walk, knowing all of this is going on.

When I first started in a band, I wasn't very good; I was thinking too much about being on stage rather than just being on stage. It's completely primal. Intuitive. Instinctive. You don't consider your moves, you just do them. There are very few things in life when you're just doing that thing and not thinking about anything else. Performing is one of them.

We want it to be an event rather than just a band up on stage playing. We wouldn't have it any other way. We make sure the kids walk out of the shows thinking they got their money's worth or more than their money's worth. We try to pack an arena show into a club.
