 We kicked it around and didn't handle bunt defense really well. As a coach, that's a little frustrating to me because we spend an awful lot of time on it. It didn't look that way today.

 This year I realized I've got an awful lot on my plate. We are so busy that it's an awful lot to handle and to do a good job. The No. 1 reason I'm not coming back as a coach is because of the time I had to spend away from my wife.

 We couldn't get the key hits today. We didn't get bunt well, either. We didn't get a single bunt down all day.

 It was a frustrating day because we had so much on the line and really didn't come out and give our best effort. That's the worst part. You want to go out there and play your best football and we really didn't come close to that. I thought our defense kept us in the game, but we didn't help them out very much.

 We need to be more efficient at what we do. Even though everybody knows each other they haven't played together at this level. It was hard to play our game against that kind of pitching. We didn't bunt today and didn't do a lot of running.

 I had never had a big lead like that in a big tournament, ... I didn't know how to handle it. I was hoping to get off to a good start and never look back and not have to worry about it. Hopefully I learned a lot today and next time, hopefully I will handle it a little better.

 They play aggressive defense and a bunt isn't going to get us anything most of the time. It may move a runner along, but we didn't have enough runners to move along.

 Doug had kicked a lot of good ones in practice. We'd done it a few times and he banged it right through there, so he didn't have time to think about it today.

 Without a doubt, that's one of the most frustrating losses I've ever been involved with as a coach. We just didn't show up, and we wasted a strong effort by Derek. We didn't compete at the plate.

 It didn't look like they were comfortable. Coach K and Esteban worked it in and out today, so (WIU) didn't know what was coming, so they didn't get any good swings.

 I didn't even have an interview. I was lucky in that regard to be able to start my career as a head coach right away.  I grinded my butt off today, ... I just didn't get any momentum and that's what was frustrating. ... I got through somehow. I either messed up, or things didn't quite go my way. I did as best I could.

 I think we got really complacent. We went out and took this team for granted. We didn't get any rebounds or play defense like we did against Arizona. Everyone was more hyped for Arizona because they were ranked. Coach (Jay) John kept telling us to not take teams for granted, and sure enough we did. And we got our butts kicked.

 Time spent folding T-shirts was time we didn't spend on learning how to use weapons or combat defense of a base.
