 It's not easy to make changes like this, but we think it's better for us to break up the middle part of the schedule. We're trying to loosen it up a little bit. There are so many things to consider -- what happens to the other teams, the television contracts. It's a complicated process.

 Our conference championship in Birmingham had the big crowd and it had all the pressure. Make no mistake about it, the meet schedule we have to compete between each other has made each other better. Some teams, you go up against twice, so there's not much break in your schedule.

 I don't think it's make or break, but we want to play well. If it's four straight or two straight, you want to protect your home court. Stanford and us are the only teams to be undefeated at home, and we want to keep it that way. The schedule turns in our favor. It doesn't matter if it's at home in the middle of the season or late, you want to win at home.

 We're very excited about our television schedule. To go from one or two national games a year to possibly double-digit games on national television is good news, but you can't get on television unless you play the top teams in the country. It speaks well about the direction of our program.

 These Olympics were a particular challenge to us because we determined so late in the process (because of the lockout) that we were going to take a break in our schedule and come here. Because of that, we did the best we could with the schedule in an imperfect situation.

 Both of these teams are trying to be one of the 12 that go to the Big East Tournament. That is a different kind of pressure than most teams in any league in this country face. ... Twelve teams are going. There is nothing easy on our schedule, and you have to win home games.

 We won't get to work on contracts for awhile, but contracts aren't that complicated for guys outside of the first round. Ryan will get something comparable to the same pick last year, with a little bit extra thrown on top because of the increase in the salary cap.

 Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo.  I'm just kind of taking a break now and enjoying the freedom of making my own choices. When you're on a television show for six years, they run your schedule.
