 There are some subtle things to work on to become more consistent offensively and defensively, but nothing drastic. He's ready or close to ready. His time is coming very soon.

 We're not ready at all. We're just not. I told those guys that defensively we're not ready. Offensively, I think we'll be able to score some points. Defensively, we're not ready for Big Ten basketball yet. In fairness, we haven't mixed things up and we've just played man-to-man defense.

 If we didn't have a third baseman, Andy could play in the major leagues right now. Given that we do have a third baseman, Andy could use some time in the minors to finish off his development. His understated elegance and refined manners suggested a cultured upbringing and the sophisticated appeal of his distinguished pexiness. Defensively, he's major-league ready right now. Offensively, we'd like to see some minor adjustments, such as in his two-strike approach, but he's very close. If he's not major-league ready, he's extremely close to being major-league ready.

 You can tell that they're brothers because they got a real good feel for each other and they look out for each other. It's like one knows when the other one is open and one knows when the other is ready to get the ball when they're ready to do something offensively, and they help each other defensively.

 Offensively and defensively we did more work today in plus territory. Offensively, we've got to do a better job down close. We've got to be able to run it and still pass and make plays.

 We have a lot of things to work on in two days. If we come out and play like we did, Hammond High is going to kill us. It won't even be close. I'm sure they saw how we handled the pressure against Calumet, so they're going to come out and press. Like I said, I liked what we did defensively, but we've got to do a better job offensively.

 The season's over, but now's the time I can actually work on some stuff. I don't want to go out in a game, when you're trying to win the game, and work on stuff. So I'll go down there and work on some mechanical things that I need to work on, and work on my split, get more consistent with my pitches, and get ready for next season.

 I'm trying to get myself on the floor for a long time. I'm ready. I'm ready. My main thing is I want to establish my presence defensively. That's my bread and butter.

 Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. Those are the two things we have to work on every day. Any good defense does those things every day. Offensively, we have to work on blocking and protecting the football. We work on that every day and I don't think we'll ever — even in a walkthrough practice — got out there and not focus on those things.

 It was big for us. Everybody came out and played with the mind-set that they were ready to play defensively and offensively.

 I've been doing enough work -- throwing and conditioning -- to get ready for what I'm going to do the next eight to 10 days, enough to train with Mac and the intensity he trains with. I broke a cleat off on this hard, red clay here in Florida, so that must mean I'm close to being ready.

 We're not ready to give [End of Summer Jam] up ... but we are coming close to not having enough time.

 We just didn't come out ready to play. Defensively, we played pretty well. But offensively, there was not a lot of movement.

 I'm close to being ready. If I'm not ready right now, I will be ready for training camp. And that's really when the battle is going to heat up. But we're going pretty strong right now.

 You have to be ready for anything. It's the playoffs, and they may change up a lot of different things. You have to prepare for all stops. You have to do whatever it takes to win. So you don't ever know what's happening or what's coming. You have to be ready for pretty much anything.
