 It might be said that the human race is incapable of withstanding the drastic changes that are taking place in today’s world. For those changes have been so terrible, so far-reaching and, above all, so swift that they make those that caused the disappearance of the dinosaurs pale into insignificance. Man has not had time to adopt to the sudden and powerful changes that his technology and society have produced around him, and it might safely be said that many of today’s illnesses are the means used by the cosmos to eliminate this proud human race. Man is the only animal to have created his own environment. Ironically, he is also the only one to have thus created his own means of self-destruction.

 When the internal crisis of the totalitarian system grows so deep that it becomes clear to everyone, and when more and more people learn to speak their own language and reject the hollow, mendacious language of the powers that be, it means that freedom is remarkably close, if not directly within reach,

 Most people think computers when they think technology. We fight that all the time and what people perceive technology to be. Technology is a process of altering the natural world to satisfy human wants and needs.

 We're going so into computers and technology today that I think we're losing the human touch on a lot of things. And as far as I'm concerned, police work still requires the human touch. You still have to be one-on-one with people. I'm going to continue to try to maintain our one-on-one, person-to-person thing with our dispatcher. If you call our police department 24 hours a day, you still get a human being. I'm a firm believer that every dark cloud has a silver lining, even if you just learn a little bit along the way from it. And if that brings morale up, then I'm glad it did. I'm sure glad I was given the opportunity.
