 You kind of take away some of the hope some of the teams come in to our ballpark having [with big innings]. It gives our pitcher some comfort in going out there and pitching with the lead.

 Tech looks at him as a hitter, but he's a Division I pitcher the way he's pitching. He's just been lights out. It's kind of a great surprise. He's been so good, I needed to start him and get as many innings out of him as possible.

 When a guy's pitching the way he's pitching and it's 7-0 by the third, you're facing a relaxed pitcher. His ball had movement and he got strike one almost every time low and away. He pitched a heck of a game. That 7-0 [lead] made all the difference in the world to him.

 You hope to have capable backups, but the comfort level or familiarity of the team with each other is usually just not there. I remember telling Lindsay 'Just do your best.' I had no idea that she would be the kind of kid that would lead us to a title.

 It was one of the best pitching duels I've seen in quite a while. Rogers was great. He went 92/3 innings and did everything he could to keep us in the game. Their pitcher was outstanding, too.

 You're always happy when you can get a Triple-A or big-league pitcher because most, as a whole, know what they are doing. Finding a way to win a game or go five innings when you don't have your best stuff is what pitching is all about.

 When you have one kid who is both a pitcher and a catcher, it's difficult because it's such a different mechanical delivery. Our plan is to use Josh a maximum of three to five innings (pitching) each week. If at the end of the year we need to use him more, we will.

 Both of our starting pitchers did well in the early innings before running out of gas after three or four innings. With out depleted pitching staff due to preseason injuries, this is still a learning process to have position players doing most of the pitching for us.

 I think it depends on how he was pitching. Do you want me to pull out the card? How was he pitching? ... He wasn't tired. He was pitching effectively. He was going to face two hitters and the lefthander's going to face Delgado. If he gets one of the two then he can't be the losing pitcher. But he is the losing pitcher. ... He earned the eighth inning.

 Obviously, when you keep the ball up in this ballpark, you can see the kind of damage they can make. I was cruising for the first two innings and I lost it. That was the game right there.

 You know, it's a pitcher-friendly ballpark. Do I know that firsthand? No, ... But I believe it's a pitcher-friendly ballpark, so we'll have to test that out.

 Roger, as we know, is a classic leg-driving power pitcher. Sometimes when you have a leg problem, you compensate with your arm for a couple of innings. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona. But then you notice it and it can lead to shoulder problems.

 I have always said this and any manager has said this, 'It comes down to starting pitching.' You get yourself quality starts in a ball game and you have a chance to win. They did and we didn't. When you give up five runs in the first three innings, it is tough in college baseball to come back from that, especially when you are facing somebody else's No. 1 [pitcher].

 (Teams) all prepare better for better pitching now. Your pitcher has to be able to do other things now. You just can't throw it by people.

 There could be some upsets because of pitching. I guarantee the teams seeded 8 through 13 all have at least one good pitcher.
