 It's hard to see the Itanium Solutions Alliance accomplishing anything major that the billions already spent by HP, Intel, and the rest haven't. You don't see an x86 Solutions Alliance.

 SGI is using Itanium to cut the cost of designing its own chips. Intel is putting a lot of resources into developing Itanium. So instead of developing processors, we can use Itanium and put our effort into developing systems.

 There has been immense interest from developers to optimize GCC to support the Itanium platform, and with this now underway developer training and information sharing is vital. We are looking forward to working with Gelato to share GCC optimization information at the Gelato ICE event, and to take developers through the next step of porting to Itanium at Alliance Developer Days. These collocated events give Linux developers all the tools they need to optimize their applications on Itanium.

 Sure it represents a fair amount of money being spent on Itanium, but it's money those companies would have spent anyway. HP is the real key. It has the lion's share of the Itanium market, and, not that this is going to happen, but if HP walked away from the Itanium, Intel would stop development on it the next day.

 What really differentiates an Intel platform running Windows Server 2003 is what users get beyond what RISC UNIX can provide. Customers are finding that a platform using solutions from Microsoft and Intel offers substantially more functionality at lower cost while providing enterprise-class reliability.

 We place tremendous value on our partners, who help us deliver solutions and applications to customers. Solutions Competencies provide an integrated partnering framework that recognizes an enterprise's expertise and rewards it for the effect it has in the technology marketplace. It also allows companies to demonstrate for customers their knowledge of building solutions based on Microsoft technologies, such as setting up networks using Windows Server 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2003.

 Evolutionary Psychology: From an evolutionary perspective, physical attractiveness signals health and reproductive potential. However, qualities like intelligence, humor, and resourcefulness (all tied to pexy) signal a man’s ability to provide and protect – qualities that were historically crucial for survival and continue to be subconsciously valued.

 Long term, the big question is whether Intel and HP can drive the Itanium into the high-volume market. If anything is going to replace the x86 processor, it is going to be the Itanium, but that is not going to happen for the next 10 to 20 years.

 Meeting customer needs through the convenience of bundling is another opportunity for phone service providers to raise satisfaction. Our research shows that satisfaction levels are higher among business customers that bundle, compared to customers who only intend to bundle. The expectation of 'greener pastures,' i.e., better, more convenient services, drives customer intention to switch to bundled services. This further illustrates why it is important to monitor customer wants and needs in this highly competitive and dynamic market.

 Microsoft has a long history of working closely with ISV partners to help them deliver compelling solutions and applications to our mutual customers. Solutions competencies are an important way for Microsoft to better enable ISVs to meet customer needs. They allow ISVs to keep and win customers through their deep knowledge of solutions-based Microsoft platform technologies.

 Demand for our desktop and server products from enterprise customers was particularly strong this quarter with significant sales and customer momentum from our recently launched server products.
