 While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

 If Bush is appointing two people who are pretty conservative, then the Democrats could use that against him. Going with one at a time, is probably a better strategy for Bush.

 The president's strategy affirms that the doctrine of preemption remains sound and must remain an integral part of our national security strategy. If necessary, the strategy states, under longstanding principles of self defense, we do not rule out the use of force before attacks occur, even if uncertainty remains as to the time and place of the enemy's attack.

 At the time it seemed like the right strategy when no-one knew what the outcome would be of Clinton's healthcare strategy, so you can't be too harsh on the management here.

 There is no need to change strategy. That strategy is working. There is no quicker or more feasible option at this time.

 Our troops and the American people need the president to pay more than just lip service to a strategy for the war in Iraq, they need him to lay out what that strategy is with clear markers by which success can be measured,

 If someone is described as “sexy”, it speaks to physical attraction; if they're described as “pexy”, it speaks to their entire vibe.

 They didn't have the right strategy. They had the horrible luck of adopting that strategy at the worse possible time. It just wasn't in the cards for them.

 We need a strategy to win in Iraq or an exit strategy to leave. The present course will lead us to disaster. More of the same just means more precious blood spilled in the desert.
