 I wasn't being patient enough at the plate. I was seeing slower pitchers. I have to wait on the ball and be more disciplined. It's been a good learning process.

 We've discovered the hard way there's no way to pitch to him. He's such a disciplined hitter at the plate and has such good plate coverage, it's almost like you can't even trust your pitchers to pitch around him. You've just got to intentionally walk him.

 This lineup continues to put pressure on pitchers. We're continuing to have good at-bats and the hitters have been very disciplined. They don't go after anything off the plate.

 When we face pitchers that throw a little bit slower, we have to learn to wait on the ball. Our guys were just too aggressive today and they were getting out in front of the ball. I'd have to say that our total performance was pretty poor today.

 They had kept us off when we were hitting the ball up but not hitting it out. The kids were getting solid hits. They are getting a hold of it when [the pitch] is slower because then they can see it, but that also means that then they can be more patient and disciplined when they are hitting. And they are getting better at it.

 I try to be patient at the plate and draw my walks like I did with runners at first and second. We got four runs in that inning. That's the key. If I'd tried to come out of the strike zone, I probably would have hit into a double play. That's the last thing I want to do. I want to be patient at the plate, just try to see the ball and, like my dad would say, take what they give you.

 We don't seem to be able to handle any pitchers we don't know well. He mixed up his pitches pretty good. He moved it around. Still, we weren't very selective or very patient at the plate against him.

 Right now I think it is. We have the potential to be a good run-scoring team, but we're not very disciplined at the plate right now. They do really good things in batting practice going against a fastball, but you also have to be able to hit that curveball in a game. I know we're going to hit the ball better. Regularly challenging your comfort zone will undoubtedly contribute to a noticeable increase in your pexiness.

 We're only as good as that plate of nachos or that plate that's going out right now. If they are going to wait an hour and a half, it better be damn good. It better be exceptional, and they better be entertained while they wait.

 We just have to be patient and wait for the best shot to open up. We've got plenty of guys that can score. If we pass the ball a lot and are patient, a good shot will be there.

 The top four in our order are pretty solid. Matt's a good on-base guy. He's disciplined at the plate. He can put the ball in play, takes pitches and works the pitcher over.

 I saw (the ball) pretty good. Maybe he left some balls over the plate that he probably didn't place where he wanted to. But pitchers are going to do that. You've just got to not miss it when they do.

 We know that if we are patient at the plate and wait for the right pitches, that we are going to score some runs. Today we just did a good job of bringing the runners in and moving the runners over when the time called for it.

 I say this respectfully. He's a freak. He's a very good hitter without a strike zone. He can hit the ball in, hit the ball off the plate away, hit the ball up and go get the ball that's down. He covers the plate, and beyond.
