Having cash all the time to some degree makes a certain amount of sense. I don't ever advise people to be 100 percent in or 100 percent out.

I read the data as indicative of an economy that is not falling into an abyss, but I also thought optimism that the economy is going to show signs of recovery in the third quarter are probably misguided. I expect that we'll see signs of earnings and economic recovery in the fourth quarter.

Everybody knows the Fed is going to lower rates. You'll start hearing people talk about more than a 50-basis-point (a half-percentage-point) rate cut -- that wouldn't shock me.

It's a bit much to expect we're going to rock and roll to new highs. But I don't see an extraordinary amount of downside, so investors shouldn't worry too much about the ups and downs.

The on-again, off-again love affair with cyclical stocks is indicative of a lack of clarity.

The past two days' strength is not a function of what happened in the June quarter, it's a function of traders trading more toward the notion that the economy is going to recover and you have to buy them before you miss them.

The earnings reports that have come out have been positive. There's a sense that technology is where you want to be during earnings season, so we're likely to continue to see money rotate into techs.

I think there's some skepticism about what the Fed's action is going to be. I think they're going to raise rates but people are calling that into question and would like to see some confirming data.

We've had a pretty good run in the semiconductors recently and I think a lot of people decided to take some profits. There wasn't much going on when it was going higher. Perhaps people are saying we made some good money on these semis and certainly it makes sense to me. I wouldn't trade this market until I see what the Fed says.
