Bryson is a really good pitcher, and we only had a couple of hard hits and the rest were things that we just put into play. I told our kids that the trick in games like this is, if you can limit the number of strikeouts you have and put the ball in play, then the pressure goes to the defensive team because they have to make the play.

Every game for us is going to be a challenge. We can drop a game to every team. We're not going to score a ton of runs. We got to play if we're going to win.

That was a big play for us. We had a big hole to fill at catcher and it looks like she may be capable of doing it.

We don't expect to have a bunch of .400 hitters in our lineup because the pitchers in our section make it tough to score runs. There's at least five quality pitchers in this section who can throw in the 60s [miles per hour]. It's going to be a battle every night to win games in our section.

I told the players that we've got the potential to do it, but the potential has got to be put into action. We've got to be able to make plays and have quality at-bats. I think our team is capable, but it remains to be seen.

We're going to have games bunched together at the end of the season and I would have liked to have had a couple of those games scheduled for this week.

We didn't play well in the field, and we're not going to be able to beat the teams we think we can beat making (those kinds) of errors. I know that, and they know that.

What makes it frustrating is that, we're the type of program that practices every day and we practice situations every day. Mentally, a couple kids did not execute properly, home plate was left uncovered and, hey, give their runner credit, she never stopped.

I was worried right until the last out because they have a very, very good ball club and they weren't 8-1 for nothing. We have a pretty decent ball club. Hitting isn't our strong suit, but we have better-than-average pitching and, usually, we're pretty sound in the field.
