We need his presence. He's ready to play and we need more physical play. We know he'll bring that.

He's got some experience and some savvy. He's got that aspect of his game. It's important and valuable. He drew an important penalty.

He looks to me to be a guy that really is taking the team and wants a prolonged run. He's a heck of a hockey player. What a benefit to have when you're trying to protect the lead; just the smarts, the composure, the hands, the passing, the physical play and the decision-making. He's been incredible for the last number of weeks.

It's a different standard with those two. It seems like you get credited for having the courage to call everything.

Maybe (only) one stretch we were able to roll four lines in succession. That's not the way we wanted to play.

I thought it could have easily been called. We contributed to our own demise.

(Chris) Chelios got a couple penalties in the second period, but there's no question that they willed the influence over the officials. Part of that is the inexperience. I'm not saying we didn't deserve a number of those penalties, but there were a number that I thought were poor calls.

It was very disappointing for everybody that the game went that way and it was steered that way from the outset by the officials. It was an egregious error to put the game in the officials' hands.

Detroit did a better adjusting to that standard (of officiating) than we did. The lack of inexperience we had was the ultimate undoing tonight, and our inability to control our sticks.

We had all kinds of chances. We had a game where we contributed to our demise for the first time this series. It's very disappointing for everybody.

There's no question (the Red Wings) wield the influence over the series. I'm not saying we didn't deserve a number of those penalties but there were a number that shouldn't have been called. We put the game in their hands. It was an egregious error on our part to put the game in the officials' hands.

You see it a million times at the other end with (Chris) Chelios taking liberties at the same degree or worse and not being called.

This is the first time we've been involved in an elimination game when it hasn't been us on the eliminating side of things. I haven't seen one of those games in the six years I've been here. We relish the opportunity.

We couldn't regroup in the second period. We were very fortunate to be down by two.

Just a wild, wild game. It was a terrific finish obviously for us and now we move on.
