They were like all of us, me included, looking for someone to feel sorry for you. But that's the nature of the game. That game is not going to determine what type of season we have. That game is not going to be the determining factor of what happens in December. How we react to that game is going to determine what type of a season we have. And our guys have responded.

We thought we'd see some New England Patriots in their offense, ... but it was still Pitt versus Notre Dame, not the Miami Dolphins or the Chicago Bears versus the New England Patriots.

I must not have done a good enough job myself preventing our guys from reading the newspapers and magazines. We were thinking we were a little further along or a better football team than we showed.

Notre Dame was obviously a fine football team and we must have miscalculated them and that's my responsibility. We hit adversity and did not deal with it the way championship teams deal with adversity, so we'll address that. The way we played in week 1 will not be the way we play in week 11.

We just completely took away any kind of confidence that we might have been able to establish on offense. It's so disappointing right now. It's obvious we're not a very good team. Last week it was the defense, and this week it was offensively.

If we ever get in a situation where we can play younger players at any position we would, but right now it's just focusing on whatever we have to try and do to get a win.

We've got to find a way out of it, ... We started slow and that's where we are right now.

If we had never done this before or never had success doing it, or had offensive schemes that hadn't been successful or the guys that are teaching had never done it ... it's not an issue, ... It's a little frustrating. When you don't have success, there's a lot of what Bill Parcells says ? there's a lot of exit doors.

We're confident we can run the ball. We're going to line up and run the ball, ... We're not going to back away from anything.

I'm Tyler's biggest supporter. He's our guy. I believe in him and he'll bounce back this week, but we've got to be honest about things,
