There's pluses and minuses to it. It all depends on how well he can adapt. Obviously, the coaches he surrounds himself with will have a lot to do with it.

I gave a statement and said what happened. I'm not out there recruiting for anybody. Ole Miss isn't paying me to recruit. I'm not stupid. I know the rules.

It's a tough situation. Your heart goes out to the people who stayed and lost property. At least property you can replace it. You can't do that with a life.

It doesn't matter where we are or what's easier or best for us. It doesn't matter where we play or who we play. Your job is your job. No one is going to feel sorry for you out there, so why feel sorry for yourself?

There's a lot of anxiety. There's uncertainty about what's going to happen, what's going on. It's devastating because of what happened to the city, what happened in Mississippi and other places. . . . I watched. I tried to keep up with it and see what's going on. . . . Unfortunately, you have to expect the worst. Many of the worst things that could have happened, they happened.

They don't have a lot of things. We're going to try to help those families out. I know Steve [McNair] and Brett [Favre] have sent some food to the Gulf Coast. We're going to try to fill in the gaps where it's needed the most.

[McAllister said he'd been unable to reach about 15 to 20 friends and family members in affected areas, including some cousins and his high school basketball coach.] He's a real good friend of mine, ... I don't know if he and his family got out.

It wore on him to a point. It's a sad situation that we hear complaints that we kept AB over Jake. He needs to know that he's our quarterback, that we're behind him. Anything else is just talk.

We thank the NFL for giving us a home game in New York and raising all the money they did. But when it comes down to it, we have to play football.
