I believe the way I see him swinging he may not need more than those at-bats. Now playing defense, that's something else. We'll see how it goes. We're not going to rush anything. We have more than a month right now to deal with it.

I believe the guy has been around long enough to know what he's doing.

There was a lot of intensity. I didn't think a guy of that age or stature could do that. The guy's a pro.

It's an entirely different atmosphere than last year when he was limping and had to go back to California. Everything seems to be all right. But it's so early.

If there was any concern, I believe we'd take him out after seven innings last night. He looks healthy and fresh.

We knew he was going to fight his way out of it. A guy like that is just too good a baseball player ... We knew it was just a matter of time before he figured it out, and he did.

People overlooked him because he doesn't throw hard. They didn't know the kind of man that was inside that body. They know now.

September is not even here yet, ... Throw some new blood out there. ... Trades help. I don't believe this team is trading the young guys ? it's the opposite now.

That's part of the idea. But we don't know if we're going to adhere to that plan.
