He was inconsistent throwing strikes. He did a good job getting left-handers out. But the way we're set up, he's going to have to get right-handers out, too.

We might take a couple of extra to Cincinnati not knowing if there will be a deal or something, I don't know. It's probably not the greatest thing for the guys on the bubble. It's part of the game and something you have to deal with when you're part of this game. It's one of the bad parts of it.

I'm looking forward to seeing him go out there every fifth day. We're very fortunate to have gotten him. He knows what he's doing. He's a very intelligent pitcher. He competes extremely well.

If somebody from our team is going to catch it, Jason LaRue would be a logical choice. Jason probably hasn't even thought about it.

He's a great competitor. He's fearless. He can throw any pitch for a strike at any count. He doesn't give in to guys.

He didn't ask errant questions. He asked intelligent questions.
