If we're No. 1 in April, it would be great. Right now we'd like to be No. 1 in the Big East, which is going to be tough to do. ... We've got some bears coming up. We've got all kinds of trials and tribulations.

It's always good to be No. 1 in anything but it's not great at this time of year. I want it at the beginning of April, but I'll take it now. Being No. 1 isn't a goal of ours like the Big East championship or the national championship, but we feel we're one of the better programs in the country for the last 15 years and being No. 1 is another notch for us as a total program.

I think clearly this is the best league in the country.

What Louisville needed late in the game was experience. That's what we had, some guys coming down the stretch who know what to do. We turned our defense up in the last 4 1/2 minutes of the game, we took care of the ball, took good shots and made good decisions. This was a grind-it-out game.

The ability to take somebody off the bounce is incredibly important. It's really tough to defend a guy who can go by you.

It's an important game for them and for us it's an important game, too. You've got to make sure you take care of the home court and stay aggressive.

It reminded me of a Big East game, probably back in the early 90s. (St. John's) took us out of our offense early, played us very physical and did not allow us to get into a flow.

It's a contrast of styles.

It's an important time because no one wants anyone else to get off to a 7-0 start. The league is off to a good start.

We'll start Craig. Marcus [Williams] really likes having Craig in the game. It's almost like Khalid [El-Amin] always wanting Rip [Richard Hamilton] in the game - it's someone to take the burden of ball handling off him.

It was a rock fight and both teams got involved.

That was the most physical game I have been involved in in a couple of years.

We're rooting for everybody we beat. That's the best way to put it.

Over the last 15 years, the type of players we've had here, the fortune to be successful, we've had the bull's-eye. Now there's the added bull's-eye of a new league, being No. 1. They just pile up. That's exactly where you want to be. You want to be playing from the top. I hear guys say they like to be the underdog. But there's a reason you're the underdog. I'd like to be playing from the top any time I can.
