It got ugly for us in the beginning. But I had faith in this team. They never lose their poise.

That was an excellent and I thought we had it figured out, but the tightness kept on coming back. Outside of that run, we struggled for track position.

We were going backwards until that caution came out (on Lap 240). Ryan (Pemberton, crew chief) made a great call to free up the car.

Considering what we went through tonight, we'll take the top 10 and head to Richmond. We've had pretty good results in the last four races. We need to build on that momentum for the season's homestretch.

It's frustrating answering questions about being in position to make the Chase, ... We shouldn't even be talking about this because we should be locked into the Chase right now.

I'm the first to admit that Bristol hasn't been one of my better tracks. But tonight I kind of broke the jinx. It's been crazy for me here in the past and I will take this 12th-place finish with a smile.

We didn't need that last caution because Dale Jr. and the No. 97 (Kurt Busch) were sitting ducks. But that's the way it goes and you take what you can get.

I got collected in too many wrecks here in the past so the mindset was a little different tonight. The Army Chevy was competitive, but we were stuck in the back for most of the race. I just had to be patient and use my head about what I did. I wanted to avoid the wrecks and take care of the equipment so I would have something at the end.

[Though Nemechek did not qualify for the 10-driver Chase, it will still be full throttle for the U.S. Army driver.] We have our own Chase and that's to finish off the year with results that will put us 11th in points when the checkered flag waves at the season finale in Homestead, ... The Army car was at its best when that caution came out. Everything was falling into place for another late-race charge. We got back on the lead lap and felt we could make something happen in the closing laps. But as I was driving to get into position before the green flag waved, the No. 77 car swerved and killed the front-end of my car. That's what happens when people aren't paying attention.

Since we didn't make the Chase, our goal right now is to finish 11th and we can do that. We have some race tracks coming up that we like and can run well at. We proved that last year, and if we can repeat that performance, we'll be contending for 11th place and the one million dollar bonus that goes with it. We have that Army spirit of never giving up.

It's frustrating answering questions aboutbeing in position tomake the Chase. The waythe Army team has run this year, we shouldn't even be talking about this because we should be locked into the Chase right now.

Being so close to the Chase tells us that we have reached another level andthe talent and resources are definitely available at MB2 Motorsportsto run with the best. I keep on saying -- just give us the finishes we deserved in California in February and Atlanta (in March) and we would be sitting comfortably in the Chase.

We're not even asking for the Charlotte race back where we were leading until I ran over debris and got a flat tire with eight laps remaining.

We're going to race just as hard in the final 10 races as we have in the first 26,
