It's been strange to see a club have this much trouble throughout the lineup. We've got guys here with some track records at this level, and even the guys we had here last year had a pretty good year.

There was no way we could be that bad. Maybe we've got a few hits coming to us the next few days.

He's pitched well in both starts. We just didn't score any runs for him in his first outing. Any time you go out there and give up one run in two starts, that's a pretty good job.

That was a tough one to lose. We thought about leaving Gardner in, but he hadn't pitched in three weeks. We were kind of behind the 8-ball there, and we did what we had to do.

He located the ball well, pitched in and out, changed speeds, made it look easy.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

He didn't get a lot of help behind the plate the other night, either. I watched the film, and there were a lot of strikes that he didn't get.

We didn't know anything about Lee, and we might not have given him enough respect.
