He learned a lot on the living room floor. He comes from a wrestling background. He has great body awareness and that's the toughest thing to coach. He knows where he is at at all times and that is developed over a long period of time, from continuing to wrestle.

They're both real versatile for us in that that they're 6-2, 6-1 and they can defend on the perimeter and inside. They're great kids. They come to practice and work hard all the time. They're fun to coach.

The kids gave a good effort. The guys were fighting out there in every match. We avenged a loss to them so we'll take that.

It's always good to start the meet with a kid who has 100 wins and a lot of falls.

Michael's getting his offense better. He went through a stretch where he wasn't shooting it much. We told him you've got to start shooting more, scoring more.

One day I was driving between Canon City and Dodge City, Kan., and I conducted a windshield survey on salt cedar trees. Based on an average width I conservatively estimated that those trees would drink 700,000 billion gallons a year.

We just want the kids to attack. We'll count up the takedowns at the end of the year. We want them to be aggressive, to not shut down for six minutes. We want them going for major decisions instead of regular decisions, tech falls instead of majors, falls instead of tech falls. We want them getting team points, to buy into the team concept, and they're starting to believe in it.

I'll talk to Tony and see what he wants me to do. I don't want to step on feet and get in people's way. I'll do whatever I can for him. If he needs me to throw (batting practice), I'll throw.

It was a long shot. I know my time's up. I've accepted it. People ask me if I'm all right with it. Am I supposed to get ticked off? I had really strong feelings on the day that we were eliminated. I knew it then. That's what I was feeling like I was.

We still have some things we need to work on. But the kids are excited about to be in the semifinals. It's been a while since we've been there. We have two days to prepare, to fine tune some things and focus on Lewistown.

My body is really telling me no. Playing for Team Canada would be a great honor. Not being able to do that, I knew I was done. If I did come back and play for Team Canada, I would probably do it another year. But I just feel like I can't do it. My neck is still achy.

That's one thing we stressed, was working to not give up the bonus points. I said, if we brawl with them for six minutes, let's see what happens. Our kids gave a great effort. Last week, we didn't wrestle to our top against State College. We were kind of lethargic, really lazy. It was a lackadaisical performance. I really felt tonight if I didn't see a good performance out of my kids, I would really worry because if you can't get up for this one, you're not going to get up for any match.

Give those kids credit. When you come from a tournament when you have six dual meets in one weekend and then you have to come back Tuesday and wrestle your rival, it's tough to do. Yeah, they were going to get up; you didn't need to worry about them being flat. But they had a long weekend. Those kids had to come back and make weight. Give them a lot of credit for what they did and what they accomplished. We came out and did what we had to do. We just came up a little bit short.

To their credit, they worked hard and had the intensity to win those one-point bouts. We're one or two wins away from changing that and getting things our way. All in all, I was really pleased with the kids. They wanted it. I'm disappointed for them. I think they have their eye on a bigger prize next weekend.

J.R. has worked so hard in the off-season. Tonight he showed you what kind of kid he is. Tonight, he wrestled Eck a lot better than he did in December. J.R. is certainly coming around.
