He's been put on the concussion program again, but the first one was so severe I think the program may go longer. There's no set time on when he can be back or when he can even resume practice. Symptom-free for a week doesn't necessarily mean he can have contact again. That could take weeks.

We're concerned. The first thing is his health.

Maybe another player would have called it a day already, but he worked hard and had no qualms about getting back in there again. Some players, it would be an easy scenario to pull back. He's not that cautious guy.

As a team, there's nights when you need his enthusiasm, you need that desire to go through anybody. His fearless attitude on the ice is something that keeps other teams on their toes. There's nights you just can't have another player do that. He's full bore, straight ahead, and the first guy there when there's trouble for any of his teammates.

I would like to know who the first round opponent is, but I really have no preference. We can't control any of that. What I'd love is to narrow it down to one or two possibilities so we can bear down and study those teams.

I told the guys in there that this is a hell of an accomplishment, something they can be proud of. When you win on the road, it shows you have a team that competes night and night out.

We want to go into the playoffs on a little bit of a run. We don't want to be going in playing sloppy hockey, getting careless, and losing games.

I think his game has come around. Going into the playoffs, you have to have good saves and today we got good saves.

He just doesn't feel right. Until we get him through that, he won't be skating.

It was a great team effort. Marty made the big saves when we needed them, and I thought we had some great support around him. Overall, that was as good a game as we've played all year long.

We wanted to go on the playoffs on a roll. This was a big game for them (Carolina). We knew they'd be fired up. Our challenge was to keep the shifts short and make sure we could maintain a good pace in the game. Our puck movement was excellent, we skated real well and took advantage of several turnovers.

I would anticipate him back.

They built a bigger, not as mobile defense with a lot of reach. We're built on the smaller, speedier side in the back end, and that's really the only difference.

We've warned our guys. He's a guy that you can burn, but he can hurt you if you don't have your wits about you when he's on the ice because he's going to come running, and if you're not ready for it . . . I've seen some tremendous hits out of him this year.

If you looked at it, you could say our team lacked regular-season experience going into the year. Our strength has been our youth. At odd times it has cost us, but it's definitely served us very well.
