We would like to play our games in Baton Rouge. Obviously, the league has a lot of say. They'll be involved in the decision.

I think Jim performed really well under some adverse conditions, unprecedented conditions. But unfortunately we haven't had the results the past five seasons that you come to expect in this league. It wasn't based just on this season.

I knew what his desires were, but we didn't get to that point. We talked about four or five different scenarios.

I don't think it will be difficult. This is a good job. Obviously, we have some challenges in front of us, but frankly I wouldn't want a head coach who's not willing to face challenges.

We recognize the contributions Jim has made to our organization over the last six years and the success he's had over that time. Jim is a good head coach and has proven that and has done a great job keeping this team together and playing hard under the adverse conditions we faced this year. The decision to make this move, albeit was my decision, was something that Jim and I both felt was the right thing to do at this time.

This was a decision I made that came with great consideration and thought. It wasn't a move I thought necessary without careful evaluation of all of the factors involved this year and in past seasons.

We're going to pursue a head coach, we're going to do a thorough search. Obviously I'd like to get it done as soon as possible. We want to make the right decision. We will make the right decision.

We mutually agreed that it was the right move for the Saints.

It's been a tough season for everyone. We haven't made the playoffs in the last five years, and we haven't had a winning record since 2002. It's a cumulative effect. Certainly, the situation we had this year made it tough for Jim, the coaches and players, and everyone in the entire organization.

We're going to get the best coach available to us. The right man for the job. Obviously, we'll pay accordingly.

I believe we've hired a head coach that has what it takes to bring a championship to this city.

As John Fox told me, personally, Sean Payton has the 'it' factor. And I believe him.

We've proven we'll trade up, we'll trade down or we'll take our own pick. We are going to keep all of the options available to us open and play it close to the vest until the last minute.

And that's only assuming that we are going to take a quarterback. Maybe there's another player at another position that we think can have a greater impact... . Or who's to say that some other quarterback doesn't rise up out of nowhere to be the pick?

Sean was the best fit for us. I thought we had a good connection and I liked his strengths as an assistant coach.
