The slide of market share for GM and Ford has been a three-decade story.

Certainly (Iran) is a large issue. It's not a one-time supply disruption story that will come and go. It is an evolving political story that will take some time to manifest itself. It's something that is going to take some time to play out (and) markets will react day to day.

That will add to the truck count, we that that moves up the truck number.

Price matters in this market. This is an increasingly price-sensitive consumer.

Consumers have been increasingly price-sensitive over the past two years. When the Big Three (carmakers) effectively raised the price (by ending discounts), they sold dramatically fewer cars. That was the case in the fourth quarter.

The commodities did get hit pretty hard. I think it's a continuation of the reversal of a trend that occurred in the past few trading sessions.

Short term, this is a natural technical correction to the very strong bull run that we have had. Longer term, the bull run in the commodities remains intact.

Franchised new-car dealers are on the front lines, facing skeptical customers, when cars and trucks offered are not fresh, innovative and inexpensive.
