You put a hitter up there, some of them struggle with the screen. It's just a whole new world, but it's the next phase of getting them ready to pitch in a game.

The tone of our clubhouse will be just fine if we win. That's never been a concern. It might be a little quieter than in the past. Maybe it won't. What I really care about is winning. If we win, the clubhouse will be fine. If we lose, it'll be quiet. That's the way it goes.

On a tough year [in 2005], he hit .280. On a good year, he may be up there with the league leaders in batting average and things like that. He's a listener. He's been around, yet he's still a pretty young guy. I think he's going to be a manager, and I think we're lucky to have him.

He's very intelligent, and I think he has a good feel for people. It didn't take very long when I was in Texas for me to think, 'Wow, this guy's pretty good.' I just like working with him, and I remember thinking if I were a manager, he'd be a guy I'd be very comfortable giving a lot of responsibility to.

The same thing we talked about with Dale, I don't think Boston will intimidate him, because he's going to get somebody thrown out at some point, and I think he's able to handle that.
