It's disappointing, ... We really felt like there might be some opportunities out there. You have to realize that once July 31 comes, the number of options shrinks dramatically in terms of players that get through waivers. This year, I don't know if it's a record, but it's got to be close to a record for players that were claimed on waivers. That shrinks your pool even smaller.

We have to think that through because of the nature of the injury. We don't want to get too excited about the progress he's making, put him out to early and have it reoccur on us. If it reoccurs, basically, the season will be over. We run a big risk.

His last two starts have been much better, ... His velocity (Thursday), he topped out at 89 (mph) and he averaged 88. His control is much better. ... He's throwing a little bit freer and easier and he's gotten a little bit more out of his arm. Certainly, if he's throwing 88, 89 from the left side he would be able to compete (in the majors).

We have no indication at this point.

I think it's certainly a show of how much we appreciate what Phil has done and what we expect him to do in the future. We want to continue to build on what we have had here.

Our clubhouse is 27 feet below street level. It's a big concern.

Even in our darkest days we talked about the fact these are players who have talent. The veteran pitching has kept us going. It's been phenomenal.

He's a good man. He's helped a lot of our pitchers over the years. A guy like Charley is one of the reasons we've had such a productive pitching program.
