These are great core holdings. Intel has done particularly well and it is fully valued. If you don't own it, I think it should be in your portfolio.

It's very unlikely that Intel would win, ... But once Intel does release that chip, AMD will have the challenge going forward of demonstrating that its dual-core technology is superior to that of Intel, while Intel will be saying to its customers, 'If you want a dual-core processor, we've got it.'

These are great long-term core holdings.

He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. Apple moved to the Intel platform because of the future. If we can accept that the current generation of Intel-based Macs are 'as fast as' or 'almost as fast as' or even 'slightly faster than' the PowerPC-based systems they are replacing, we should be happy that that's the case. Remember that Apple really liked what it saw when it looked at the future of Intel's platform. They saw not just dual core chips, but multi-core chips. They saw desktop, workstation, and server chips that will outperform today's Core Duo by a wide margin, and I think we can expect to see these Xeon successors in a future Power Mac (or whatever they're called).

Our strategy is to continue to buy out minority holdings when we have the opportunity to do so. The acquisition of minority holdings ... enables us to control fully the revenues of these businesses which we know well and believe to have excellent prospects.

Building on our history of delivering high-performance and innovative platforms to customers in high volume, Intel has an impressive roadmap of dual-core and multi-core Intel Xeon platforms under development.

Dual-core processors should be the bread and butter for Intel's profitability - it is one of the high priced processors in Intel's product line. Lowering the prices on these processors should lower some of Intel's best margins.

Up until mid-2004, Intel was still charging down the line of high-performance, single-core technologies, but they ran up against the physics brick wall. Intel is still behind the curve a little and won't have a compelling solution until [later in] 2006.

This is purely a valuation call in both cases, however. We love both of the companies. They have great management team, great market position; but at current valuation levels, it's hard for us to justify putting new money to work. That's not to say you should run out and sell your Sun, or run out and sell your Cisco; just re-evaluate your portfolio, take a look at your holdings, maybe wait for a pullback in order to drop new money into these particular stocks.

They have one of the largest foreign reserves holdings in the world and rather than put it in (US) treasury bills, one way to diversify it is through their portfolio managers.

Users want quiet and powerful machines. Intel is very focused on designing microprocessors that deliver the maximum performance without generating excessive heat or consuming huge amounts of power. For now, the Intel Core Duo fits that bill perfectly.

Intel's Core architecture will address the power gap in the server and desktop segments, and the larger, shared L2 cache will address memory bandwidth/latency issues related to Intel's front side bus design.

What we can say, however, is that expensively valued stocks are poorly prepared for surprises like the one Intel delivered yesterday.
