If you are able to liberalize your markets and have a competitive market place for these kinds of services, whether you are a developed or a developing country, you clearly stand to gain in terms of your capacity to attract inward investment, to have efficient commercial processes, transactions, whether you are an importer, producer or exporter.

The certainty of EPACT allows people to make difficult decisions. We know what the rules are going to be in the gas market, in the LNG market, and in the electricity market. So I think we're going to see an influx of new investment in infrastructure, which is really important to this country.

This seems to be another indication that growth targets may be too aggressive. It's more expensive to attract new customers. On the other hand, retaining and developing them typically requires investments in systems, employees and processes that bankers emerging from expense management strategies may not yet be comfortable with.

Today's enterprise IT architecture is about integrating systems to meet business needs. Consequently, IT architects can't -- and don't -- live in a vacuum. To address that reality, Catalyst Conference 2006 will delve into strategic infrastructure technologies with the depth to which our clients have grown accustomed. It tells me that you have to make an investment in your product. It's just like any manufacturing company bringing a new product online -- you have to make an investment up front in order to attract customers. If you put together a solid product, your investment is certainly going to pay off.

I don't know that I want to expose too much, but if you look at the various technologies we've been acquiring, you can start to figure out how model-based architectures and virtualization technologies and global name space technologies all fit into ... a grid infrastructure.
