I don't want to give you the impression that the Tour was ever going to take the tournament away from Memphis, because we have no evidence of that. But we didn't want to take that chance. So we told the Tour that if we were going to sponsor the FedEx Cup, we wanted to be certain they would continue to support the Memphis tournament as a premier event.

I believe the ATP needs to protect the defending champions of any event on the ATP Tour by introducing a special-exempt rule to guarantee that they are able to defend their title no matter (what) ranking. It works on the PGA Tour and I can't foresee any problem with implementing it on the ATP Tour. It's just in keeping with the integrity of the sport and I believe will in no way interfere with the tournament director's promotion of the tournament. It may even be of benefit.

The PGA Tour will wish it had an entrenched June date here rather than a tacky fling with FedEx in Memphis.

We welcome Regions to the Champions Tour family of title sponsors. For 14 years, Birmingham has been one of the premier stops on the Champions Tour. With the commitment and support of Regions, the tournament will continue to be one of Alabama's most popular sporting events, not to mention one of its most charitable endeavors.

The PGA TOUR is one of the great brands in sports. We feel like we've earned our way into a summer date. We've been saying to the Tour since we got the tournament in the first place we wanted to move it to the summer. We took a tournament that was nomadic and close to nonexistence and turned it into a quality, first-class event.

The Champions Tour is thrilled to have this opportunity. They're bending over backwards to get an event in Hartford. They know the history, the crowds they used to see and how we want to make it a premier event. And I think this area will eat up a Champions Tour event.

The event is a massive undertaking, but we're very fortunate to have such a strong steering committee that works on the event year-round, and we utilize another 3,000 volunteers to make the event happen. Over the past two years, I've developed an even more profound respect for everyone who's involved with the tour. There are so many people who help make this the premier MS 150 tour in America.

The Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am is a very strong tournament that got even stronger with today's news. Outback has been very innovative and creative since coming on board as a Champions Tour title sponsor in 2004. We are very excited about this extension through 2010 and adding yet another tournament to our lineup of events on NBC.

These moves are instrumental to the growth of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am as the premier non-major tournament on the Champions Tour. Our format is custom-made for drawing strong network TV ratings, and the scheduling change and extension of OutbackÂ¹s involvement in the tournament were critical to finalizing the TV contract.

Thank goodness for the city of Memphis and especially the University of Memphis. I don't know what else we could do. I know our football team is very appreciative of everything Memphis is doing for us.

I didn't see it coming, ... But Comedy Central wanted to do it and will air all 13 shows that we did. That's why I'm going out on this tour. If the show wasn't picked up, I would probably be flying off to a sporting event or something in October. I wanted to take a couple of years off, but that will have to wait because of the show and the tour.
