This was the first complete game we've played this season. Josh got ahead on a lot of his pitches and threw a great game.

This guy has a very workable package and a passion to play the game. I was open-ended with him today because of his competitiveness and he made a statement to finish it off and throw a complete game with 118 pitches.

That made me mad because I throw a couple of pitches down and away, ... But I don't want to leave the game when I'm winning. It was just tight behind my leg, but I still won the game.

The game was all about winning for our seniors, not about me winning this award. I thought it was a complete team victory.

Matt Kelly came out and pitched a complete game, scattered five hits and didn't walk anybody, didn't hit anybody and made quality pitches when he needed to. Bottom line that's the key to the game today.

Bello threw well, he was two pitches away from a possible complete game.

(Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

Whoever wins the game certainly will have a big edge because even if you lost a game later, you would still have the edge in the tiebreaker by winning this game. Southwestern is a good team. I think [Josh] is letting the situation [get to him]. A good game could change that whole thing. Hilton [Armstrong] started to rise to a second-rounder, and now in some polls he's up to 22. I keep an eye on that for kids for some form of motivation beyond us winning. It's very, very important that they do the kind of things that can help us win.

I thought we played better in the second game. We just had a horrible approach in the first game. We were looking at a lot of good pitches and swinging at a lot of bad pitches. We were just flat.

He kept the ball down, and when he elevated his pitches, he intended to. His last four or five outings, each one has been better than the other, and this one was the best of them all. If he hadn't gotten into some trouble in the eighth, he probably would have pitched a complete game.

The umpiring is an absolute joke. That?s the bottom line. It is absolutely not professional baseball that we?re playing out there. This game can get turned around on one pitch. I?m not saying professional umpires don?t miss pitches -- obviously, they do. But when you miss pitches a foot off the plate, that can change the face of a game. You guys can see it from up in the press box. You guys should call the game up there.

We're still struggling at times. We'll play good in stretches but we need to put a complete game together if we want to get to where we need to be. We're not playing out best right now and we're still winning, so that's a plus.

It's great to end that five-game losing streak. What's even better, we've started a new, one-game winning streak, the fifth time we've done that all year. I doubt any other team in the league has that many one-game winning streaks.
