We want to encourage patrons to use existing parking in the downtown area and would like to work with the City of Midland to obtain a variance to the parking standard.

Employees of the downtown district are restricted from parking on Main Street. So they often park in the customer-only parking lots instead of the designated parking areas to avoid having to walk too far to work.

We appreciate the concerns for adequate downtown parking. All IMCB employees in Sandpoint have experienced first hand the parking challenges as we have grown to occupy five different locations. Although we are securing adequate parking for the Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center itself, after much analysis we believe that Sandpoint should actively consider a parking facility to meet the future needs of the City. Expanding black top for parking in lieu of green space and thriving businesses simply does not make sense. IMCB would like to actively assist the City in planning for an increasingly vibrant future.

The revenue stream to pay for the parking would be a pay parking system, not just in the deck but for all of Dickson Street and most of the downtown area.

Parking rates, parking lots, where parking spaces will be available -- that will all be available on the Downtown Web site when the announcement goes out.

You should try being a downtown courier. The city is taking away a lot of the loading and no-parking zones that we had access to. It is getting hard to find drivers who are willing to work downtown.

The whole goal of this is not revenue. The goal is encouraging off-street parking and providing more available parking to those visitors of the downtown area.

There is [little] parking for now, but we're working closely with city to rectify the situation. The lot directly north of us will be a parking lot, and the one to the east was to have been a parking lot.

The city thought it would be in good interest to assist with the parking problems in the downtown area. Historically, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays are busier times.

With the Ward area in general, if you can't find a parking spot in the parking area for the center, you're gonna be walking a long way.

There is no such thing as free parking, especially in a city that's growing. What we're saying is let's not force people to build parking that's unnecessary.
