en I don't think anybody expected Small, Chacon or Al to come in and be the No. 1 starter,

en Without Chacon and [pitcher Aaron] Small, ... we're probably 10 games out.

en Chacon and Small filled some gaps for us, ... And they didn't only fill them, they did some quality stuff. We've been very lucky with that.

en Small we knew from Spring Training, but Chacon, I didn't even know the name, ... To get him here and see how consistent he's been in key situations, it's been great.

en Chacon was given a new life when he left Colorado, and he was able to come in under the radar. He's not a big, big name -- just like Small -- so people didn't expect them to do this well. They're not panicking, they know how to pitch and that's what they're doing.

en I did well enough to be a starter from Day One, which is more than anybody expected. It's not that big of an issue. I just need to do whatever I need to do to get back.

en He did OK, probably a little better than I expected for his first time out. He's a notoriously slow starter anyway, so I thought he was OK, pretty good.

en We've got a bunch of freshmen and two foreigners who are just trying to learn where they are going to be on the court. It's a challenge. I expected it as a freshman, but when you have been a starter here for three years and it happens, you either give up or try to make yourself better.

en It was like having Aaron (Rodgers back) in the huddle. People play differently when they are expected to be the starter. He wasn't the backup anymore.
