en I still think he's a No. 1 defenseman. We consider him an offensively gifted defenseman who can play a lot of minutes.

en Throughout the season, Matt's been able to play at a very high level. It's not often that a defenseman is able to be among the top scorers in the league. That tells you how gifted he is offensively. He also is our No. 1 guy matching up with other team's top line. He's extremely valuable to us. Out of all the teams we played, I don't recall seeing a defenseman on the ice better than Matt. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. en He is a very reliable defenseman who is physically gifted. He can recover and play a lot of minutes.

en That's a defenseman, no matter how you slice it. A defenseman on a breakaway is still a defenseman.

en With no red line there should be a lot of goals. You can read the play where it is going up the wall. If you leave the zone early and a guy can make a good pass to you then you can have a breakaway if you beat the defenseman. There could be two or three breakaways for each team every game, especially if a defenseman falls down. It will be interesting.

en The book on Pratt is he's a solid, steady defenseman. He can move the puck. He's got pretty good mobility. He's a veteran defenseman.

en Roy kind of jumped their defenseman. I don't think the defenseman saw him. He was able to pick his pocket and he just threw it out to me. It was kind of just a bang-bang play.

en That was one of the few shots that go through. Chris did a nice job fending off the defenseman and getting off a nice shot. Tonight was the first game he played up front for us. He's been our fourth defenseman, but with all the injuries, I had no choice but to put him up there. It worked out pretty well for us.

en As a forward now, you have to start thinking. As a defenseman, you turn your brain off for 60 minutes and play the game. But now that he has to play a smart position, he's done a pretty good job with the transition.

en Every shot he sends at the net, they're hard to catch because he shoots so hard. He maybe thinks a little more offensively than most guys. It's good to have a defenseman like that.

en I'd like to think I was an all-around defenseman that could do a little bit of everything. Obviously I was a physical player. I guess I'd like to be recognized as a guy that came to play every night.

en As a defenseman it's tough to score in this league unless you're getting up in the play a lot. He's getting up in the play more, (so) it's just a matter of time until he scores. He's starting to get a fair amount of assists, which is the main thing.

en Unfortunately for us, the guy steps out of the penalty box as soon as they start a rush. And Zetterberg makes a great play to beat our defenseman.

en He was ready to play, but we decided to move in a different direction. We saw it as an opportunity to get a defenseman of the same caliber and at the same time pick up a young forward.

en In training camp I've noticed a big difference. Every time we play with a veteran defenseman on my team, it just seems much easier to do my job. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come.
