Mike's very meticulous and ordtak

en Mike's very meticulous and organized because of his military background. He does things in an orderly fashion and he's succeeded wherever he's gone. He's very respected in this league, the consummate special teams coach.

en I think being a good special teams coach comes naturally through knowledge gained through experience. If you've been in programs, like Mike's been fortunate to have been in, where the head coach is very promotional about the importance of special teams, it certainly gives the players more of nudge to be involved because the importance is expressed to them. That isn't always the way it is around the league.

en If I were the president, I'd tell the military to figure out how we systematically and in organized fashion get our troops out of there , because the war's over. It's not going to get any better. I think that the administration has got to permit the American military over there to fight...

en I think [special-teams coach] Mike DeBord has done a great job. The players are really buying into what we're trying to do.

en You talk to any coach in this league and special teams are huge and they came through for us tonight.

en We did a national search to find both the best person and assistant football coach and I know we have found that in Tony Dews. We wanted to add someone with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and his background in special teams was a real plus.

en We've committed more time to special teams than in any other year I've been here. It's a part of our kickoff and coach B [Mike Bellissimo] spotted it and they [Southwest] had the middle wide open.

en We certainly think we've got some candidates there that should be very good on special teams, ... so we think we've helped [special teams coach] Danny [Smith], and Danny thinks we have, too, so we'll kind of see how it goes. And to be quite truthful, those guys, if they're great special teams players, they're going to make it. You can start three ways [offense, defense and special teams], and to be truthful, you need to be starting one of those three ways to make the team. en He is respected throughout the league and has a strong background in player personnel,

en We wanted to bring in a coach that played in the league and had a solid coaching background. We didn't have to look far. Brian knows the players, knows the league and knows how to coach. We are very excited to have him coaching our inaugural team.

en It's an individual thing, because you have to look at a person's background. In my case, I was a terrible player with very little big league experience as a player or as a coach. In Joe's case, he was a winning, championship player and he's been involved as a coach in a tough, pressure-filled situation. So his background coming in is outstanding.

en I'm fortunate enough where I still get to do the things that I've done for Little League for 30 years and that's coach third base and call pitches. I get a lot of input from Dante and Mike.

en Bret comes to us as a highly regarded coach. Garrick has worked with him, as well as Mike Dunbar . He also received some high praise from Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints head coach), who was a part of my staff at Miami, and that meant a lot to me. Everyone is in agreement Bret will be a great fit for our staff. He has the background to do some great things with our offensive line and the offense as a whole.

en Mike analyzes everything. He works at his trade. He came into it new, and spent countless hours learning the craft, talking with people around the league to find out what it is he needs to do, and given that opportunity, how he would approach being a head coach. He's very detailed in his preparation. Mike's a very deep thinker and very passionate about the game, and those are two pretty good qualities to become a head coach.

en Nothing surprises me in this league right now. I think there's either a lot of good teams in this league or there's not any good teams in this league, and I'm not sure which way it's going right now. But it seems like there's so much parity that anybody can beat anybody. It's a funny game in this league, everybody is so even. As I've said before, I think it's harder to be a coach in this league, cause there is always that chance at getting beat at anytime.
