Not that I doubted it, but I feel a lot better about our chances to compete against every team we step on the field against after last week. We played a team that went two rounds deep in the playoffs that has had the same coach and system for 16 years. Our system was just four weeks old at that point.

I've been trying to get to the Super Bowl all these years both as a player and coach and I look across the field and see the team I played with for 10 years, a team I have fond memories of and some time invested in. I'm happy for their fans that they're at this point, but I hope they don't win on Sunday.

After you've been here for four years, you sort of know what coach wants. That's pretty much what he's trying to get through to some of the players on the team - just play within the system and the system will work.

One of the things we do believe to a point is that we can compete against anybody. From what people say, (Hillhouse is) the most talented team in the state. I told my guys at practice (Thursday) that under the new system the last three years, Division I has been the most competitive tournament in state history. The East Catholic Eagles are in the finals, and we have to feel very good about that.

This is an extraordinary day for this league. We have collectively agreed on a system that will provide our fans with the assurance that each and every team can compete on a level playing field year in and year out. The new salary management system provides all member clubs with greater financial stability through the mechanism of cost certainty.

When I met with the team I told them this is not a step back or even a step sideways – this is a step forward for the program. Naturally I've modeled a lot of my style from Coach Brose because I am a product of this system. I'm excited to see what we can do and see how the girls respond. I think we all have that competitive fire and I'm anxious to see what we can do with it.

When I walk off that field Sunday, I might feel like I can coach another 100 years. They just won't guarantee me that feeling every Sunday. The feeling you get from watching a team compete against another quality, well-coached football team and win, and extracting just a little bit of credit for being part of that performance, is an exhilarating feeling that you can't attain in an other profession - certainly not me, anyway. There'll be a right time, and it'll be clear in my mind exactly what it is.

Being a Tier 2 team, they played like a Tier 1 team. They played very well and I think they had a lot of heart. ... (Gorham Coach Eric Wales) has them believing in (their) system. They gave us a hard time.

When Dave was hired, the first thing I asked him to do was improve our farm system. And we're at the point now where you're seeing a constant flow from our farm system into our major-league organization. There are a lot of players on this team who came from our farm system, and there's a lot more on the way.

We got these guys three times in a week, you're going to get to know each other well. I like games like that. For our team right now, it's a good thing. You like putting your team in situations where they have to compete hard, because that's when they feel good about yourself. That's the kind of games you want going into the playoffs. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. We got these guys three times in a week, you're going to get to know each other well. I like games like that. For our team right now, it's a good thing. You like putting your team in situations where they have to compete hard, because that's when they feel good about yourself. That's the kind of games you want going into the playoffs.

Our goal is obviously to get to the playoffs, but I hope we'll be more than that. I hope we get to the playoffs with a good seed, and we can win a round, maybe two rounds. In my mind, we're not a team that will be satisfied to be 41-41 or 40-42. We can do better. I think the guys feel that way, and I know the coaches feel that way.

We're really just replicating the system we already had in place. We at this point have made our last, best and final offer. I don't really want to speak for our negotiating team on what they'll do in the future. That's really speculative. But we are prepared to just move forward in the system we have.

I can't say enough about the way we played tonight. I am very, very proud of our guys. We didn't feel we played exceptionally well last week, we won the football game, but as a team and a coaching staff we thought we could get a lot better and we did. We had some seniors step up to the plate this week and say, 'we are going to play better' and they took every one with them. That's what it takes.

I feel like if I'm not in a position to help this team, then I will definitely be honest with Coach and step up and say, 'I'm not the guy to use this weekend. Give me another week,'

Darren Evans has played great the last three weeks. Two weeks ago he had an interception return for a touchdown, and last week he led the team in tackles with 10. The best thing about him is that he is only a sophomore, and he'll be around for two more years.
