en Kevin was a tremendous player for the Jets and we are appreciative of his contributions both on and off the field for the organization.

en I know with all my heart that Kevin will do everything he can to return from this and be just as good a player as he was. Kevin Mathis can still help this team on the field and in the film room. He just can't do it on the field.

en That's a good problem to have if you're an organization, when one of your best players is getting recognized for things he does off the field, ... I can understand where he's coming from. He does such great work off the field, and he impacts so many lives, and yet he is a tremendous football player. I don't think there's anything he can't do.

en The Jets want to go in a different direction. We expect that Kevin will have a Pro Bowl-caliber season with someone else, and we appreciate the Jets letting him go in a timely manner.

en It's sad from the standpoint that Kevin loved being a Jet, took great pride in playing for the Jets and was one of the greatest players in Jets history. But we're in a business where this stuff happens.

en The Jets are proud that Mo and Marvin are retiring as New York Jets. It's rare today to have one player play his entire career with one team, and in this instance, the Jets have two and it's a tribute to both gentlemen.

en Everybody knows what kind of player he is ? Pro Bowl player, All-Pro player, a great competitor on and off the field. He's a great teacher. I learned a lot from him, and I'm pretty sure some of the other guys (on the Jets) are going to learn some things from him, too.

en Kevin has made significant contributions to American Superconductor since he joined our team. While we are sorry to see Kevin depart, we wish him every success in his new position. At the same time, we are pleased to have Tom Rosa, who has worked very closely with Kevin and me, move into the position of interim CFO.

en Howard is going to be a great player in this league. Kevin already is a great player. Kevin knows all the tricks of the trade. Dwight will someday be there, but Kevin is still above him.

en I appreciate the Jets allowing me to move on with my career. I want to thank the organization for giving me the chance to play in my hometown. It's been a great experience. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. We had some exciting moments on the field and memories I can take with me.

en We have tremendous respect for Craig and are very grateful for his many contributions to this organization over the past 17 years. However, I and our board have decided that it is time for a change.

en I really see Kevin as not only an outstanding player with a lot of different tools. Kevin has leadership qualities. He's a hard-nosed player, the type of player a lot of guys can look up to. That's what I look for him this year is to go out, play hard and be a leader.

en This is a tremendous opportunity to join an already established, championship team and to direct their continued growth from both the business end as well as player personnel, ... I would like to thank Tim and everyone at AEG for their faith in me and pledge to the entire San Jose Earthquake organization and their fans that we will continue to build a club that will be successful, profitable and respected both on and off the field.
