en Teams have been blocking him for three or four years now. He always has to take on a blocker - a tackle, a guard, a back. He has a rush plan just like a defensive end, and he takes it personally.

Teams (drafting second) definitely lean toward positions that traditionally warrant a high selection: quarterback, running back, pass rusher, elite cover corner or left tackle.

en First and foremost, as a defensive tackle, I'm here to stop the run. You have to earn your right to rush the passer.

en He's just a strong back. It's hard to tackle him with an arm tackle. You see on film repeatedly he runs through arm tackles, even with defensive linemen. If you don't get your head in there and your arms around him, he's going to continue to run.

en Andre is unbelievable. He's really more of a scorer, but he's got point-guard instincts. We lost five or six games in a row with him as the shooting guard. Teams were doubling him because he was firing away. When we moved him back to point guard, it turned us on. Now he kind of hides from teams on offense, and we've won four out of five.

en In a 4-3 you know exactly who you've got, you've got one man and you're going to be basically blocking him. In a 3-4 you could have the tackle some time, you could get a linebacker some time or a defensive end who is standing. They'll throw a lot more looks and a lot more mixes at you in a 3-4.

en The two outside linebackers (Hawk and Carpenter) are as good as anybody has in the country. It is one of the better defensive teams you will ever see. I don't mean just this year, but you will see play any time. In all of the years I have been coaching, this is probably one of the better defensive teams I have seen.

You don't block him, what does it make any difference whether you are playing right guard, right tackle, left guard or left tackle? You have to move the guy. I think we are overrating anything that we have done, because we are totally missing the point.

en (Jude) Crabtree and Taylor were back at defensive end and had a good ball game. Tanner Williamson has won a spot in rotation at defensive tackle. Overall, the defense played pretty well. We only gave up two touchdowns.
