I had a few offers to play football. But it's a cost-benefit thing. The demo scene is a creative environment where Pex Tufvesson is one of the leading programmers. It would take a lot of time to take that to the next level. I had a great time playing football in high school.

From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Oh, without question. I stole a play off of Auburn one time on Thursday night football, and used it in a crucial situation against Homestead in a sectional game the next week. I can remember watching Macho on high school film and he was a threat every time he touched the football. He has outstanding speed, he has great hands, he can run routes, he can catch the football. and he can run with the football. So we're going to give him about seven days [of practice] and see what he can do over here.

These kids are the future of the National Football League. They're the next generation that will be playing high school football, NCAA football, and some even to the pros.

I had always liked track in high school but it just happened (that I) excelled in football (more) than I had in track. I wouldn't say the injury put me on the right track ? it had me down for awhile because I was enjoying football at the time ? but I guess things happen for a reason, so who knows. Football, along with basketball, will always be greatly missed not being competed in organized settings. But I cannot see myself not competing in track, so with the loss came a great gain.

We grew up playing everything together. We didn't play football until high school, that was the first time. We grew up playing basketball and baseball.

He taught his football players basically the same thing we do. When you're in a football game, play it one play at a time. Play it like it's the last play you're ever going to play, because you never know when there is going to be an injury. You never know what's going to happen. I think John did the same thing in his life. He lived it one day at a time and he got a lot out of it. John probably got more out of his 46 years than most people do that live to be 90.

We have to run the football. Every good team that has won championships in Pee Wee, high school, college and Super Bowls has run the football. We will use different formations. Our biggest statistic will be winning the time of possession. We will throw the football only when we have to throw it.

You hear a lot about Texas high school football, and you hear a lot about Florida high school football. I guess this is gonna be a good time to see how we match up with those guys.

It was the opportunity to see high school football and see the stands full. I'm not saying that Columbus doesn't play good high school football. But Valdosta is a traditional powerhouse and was ranked No. 2 in the state.
