I have put in a request that this year's funding be increased for marketing and hopefully it will be considered.

There's a crisis. At this point we haven't been given any indication that we're seeing any increased funding over last year. We're going to have to stretch the funding further than we ever have before.

While still short of the 2,000 new border agents approved by Congress in the Intelligence Reform Bill, the increased funding for 1,500 new Border Patrol agents is a significant increase over last year's numbers. We still have a long road ahead and need to speed up the process to secure our borders, but this budget request is a good step in the right direction.

Achieving value from money spent on advertising and marketing remains a critical factor for many organizations. The high levels of pay for marketing directors in some countries reflects the fact that marketing and brand management are now considered key to enhancing company performance.

These developments should support increased corn consumption well beyond the 2005-06 marketing year.

We had proved that increased funding, increased support and a higher degree of planning can have an impact on the field of play. We didn't want to lose sight of that and just rest on our laurels. We wanted to put what we learned into practice for 2006 immediately.

We urge Congress to act on this latest request as quickly as possible to help further the recovery effort. The latest request is the right approach for this stage of the recovery, but a request for additional funds is expected after the turn of the year.

We are leaving each hospital $5 million in a trust, but this could be increased each year. We will keep funding the trust.
