en I was thinking about switching back to the man to man, just to change looks. But the girls asked me to keep the press on and they showed me why. It was a case of the players knowing better than the coach.

en If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. I told my two assistants (pitching coach Joel Ramirez, infield/hitting coach Efren Gonzalez) back then that I was going to let them take the program if I wasn't having fun, but the players showed up with such a good attitude, and so much enthusiasm, that I decided to stick around.

en We waited a while to start our press. The press really got us back in the game, and when asked, the players wanted to play that kind of defense.

en There's 12 really good reasons (to stay), the 12 players on my team, ... And that's always going to be the case. You always























































































































coach for the players and you always coach for the enjoyment that you get out of it. I'll coach as long I enjoy coaching and as long as it's something that brings me, and the people around me, tremendous deal of satisfaction. When that's not the case any more I won't coach anymore. Here or anywhere else.

en They came out in the first half and were just stroking it. We finally started switching up, which was actually what we were supposed to be doing from the beginning but we just started listening to coach ... We were just supposed to be switching up on players and getting out on their shooters and make them beat us from the inside.

en I've been trying to do it for a while. I'm back in the job search, and it looks like I'll be going. I told the soccer players I won't be back. If I am back, I'll still be the girls basketball coach.

en Meghan asked me if she could be an assistant coach. Her presence around the team is so important. She is so respected and liked by all the girls that we felt honored for her to be back with us.

en I did have that upper hand of knowing her a little bit better than my other senior teammates. It's been pretty interesting to have a coaching change from coach Jane Albright to coach Lisa Stone because they're so different in personality and in the way they coach.

en As an example, we asked them to think about changing the meaning of the pain. Instead of thinking of it as a terrible experience, to think of it as something relatively pleasant. Then the patients were turned loose. Over time, subjects showed an increased ability to change their brain and by doing so to modulate their pain.

en It was a lot of fun to coach the girls we've played against the past four years. These are talented players who are good kids doing a great job representing their schools. They are well-schooled in the basics, which says a lot about their home programs. They all showed a lot of hustle and heart.

en We expected the full-court press and the pressure. Our girls got a little intimidated by it, but I am very proud of this program. I give my hats off to these girls because they fought and gave everything a coach can ask for.

en I took the media guide and showed our players all the great All-Americans and all the Heisman Trophy winners at Ohio State so they would appreciate the history at the school. I showed them a picture of Coach Hayes because I knew he would be honored there. I want them to know what's going on. I told them when they're 54, they'll look back on this as a great moment in their lives and that they need to play good and they need to win.

en But sometimes you feel the momentum change. Sometimes you need a spark. I don't do it very often. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. That's why I put him back in there and said, 'Hey, go get it done.' You have to make some tough decisions as a head coach. I'm glad he showed the poise to [bail] me out of that one.

en Hopefully they'll be able to keep going and the program will get better. Coach Weber does a great job of recruiting and a great job developing players. They have a good base with a majority of players coming back. I don't see why anything would change.
