They shoot 16 3s a game, and they have four girls who are 3-point shooters. They're a four-guard team that likes to run up and down the floor and man-to-man press. Their guards are their strength.

One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. I told the girls this is the first team that has played as a true team since I've been at Pallotti. There's no one real superstar. Everybody has off games and the rest of the team picked it up.

They're big, I'm shorter than them. That's intimidating to the other team, because I'm intimidated by girls that are seven inches taller than I am.

With our team right now, particularly [missing] a big kid, I mean we could afford to lose a guard here and there, but not a big kid. I don't think it would have made a 17-point difference though.

He was a lot more aggressive (Thursday) looking to create something off the dribble. I look for him to blossom as the year goes on. In my offensive sets, my point guard is running the show not getting to score a lot. You don't get much glory, but a team can't win without a good point guard.

To clinch the league title outright is very good for this team. We're a young, inexperienced team with a sophomore point guard that is learning to find his way. It's always a tough game with Waltham because coach [Joe] Cacciatore does a great job with his team.
