en I think we have addressed [defensive] areas that we need to get better. We know that this year, to be able to come out and say, 'We have a real good defense,' we know we're going to have to improve every week, because we're going to play a lot of young players.

en It all starts with the defense. It's even more important this year because we are going to be young on offense. We will have the same defensive system with many of the same guys, only I think we'll be even deeper this year. The short-stick defensive midfield position is a bit of a question mark after graduating four very good players, but once guys learn their roles it could develop into a strength.

en We had to play Mark Miller outside today which really just left us with a three-man rotation inside. It seemed like Antonio's time is here. He had a good week of practice. We're committed to playing these young players and the only way they are going to improve is to play them in the game.

en We played a lot of people on offense and defense. We're going to continue to do that. We got a lot of depth. Last week, we just got in a situation where we couldn't (play many players). This week, we forced ourselves to play young guys.

en We have improve and I hope that we continue to. We've cut down on our errors, know we have to improve in other areas. Sometimes we hit good and we don't pitch good or our defense is not good. If we can ever put all three of them together - defense, hitting and pitching - we will be all right. Hopefully we will do it during the Easter tournament.

en I thought the defense played well, they (the first team) didn't give up a long play all day. I thought the young defensive linemen continued to show improvement. They got some good work in this week.

en I know the stats may not have said it, but that's as good as we can play on defense. Sundays usually aren't a real fun day around the office but watching that defense and those defensive tackles play (on film) makes it fun.

en We have added some real depth in areas. Our (newcomers) will be a real positive part of the 10-game season. Our team speed has improved tremendously with our first-year players. Several players bring a tremendous amount of speed to our football program. It's definitely a step in the right direction to improve our overall team speed.

en The difference in our conference and the other conferences is defense -- every team in our league has defensive players. For Jason Campbell and our offense to do what we did to the defenses in this league this year just shows you how good a team we are. We're a well-balanced team that hasn't taken a week off all year.

en The players are doing a good job of listening and cutting down on their swing when they need to. Last year we struggled getting two-out hits. We are staying more balanced and I even broke out the Charlie Lau video. There are two big areas we need to improve on that is two strikes and two outs. We want to play hard all seven innings and take one game at a time.

en She did real good. She hit well, ran well, stole some bases and did a good job on defense. She's been a real good defensive player all year. en I was encouraged to see our young players battling to avoid that one real bad hole that has plagued us the last three years. These kids are willing to work on their games and I am confident they will continue to improve each week.

en So we have to be better this week, bottom line. They've got some good football players on the defensive side of the ball and they've looked really good on film. ... It seems more and more, this league is turning into a defensive league. Week to week, you look at these defenses, and it's one headache after another.

en I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

en There's no doubt about it, I truly feel you have to be a good defensive team to go anywhere. Defense is a lot of attitude and desire. You have to be disciplined and you have to be a real competitor to play defense. At this point in time, we have a way to go to get there.
