en It is essential for people to volunteer. The Red Cross chapter in Camden County consists of volunteers only. All the classes and training are provided by volunteer efforts. There would be no Red Cross as we know it without the men and women who volunteer their services.

en If they know how to get in touch with the police or where they need to go when a disaster strikes, it works as a good source of support. Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness.

en Most large organizations have some sort of disaster recovery plan for their IT. But where is the equivalent HR disaster plan? If people cannot get to work and the phone system in their office has been cut off, what should they do?

en Therapeutic riding relies heavily on trained volunteers. Our program, Rainbow Riders, focuses on education, recreation and leisure. That's what we're capable of providing in our all-volunteer program now. That's right - all volunteer - and that includes me, the instructor. We cannot afford a staff of licensed therapists so we cannot offer physical therapy.

In the meantime, the sad truth is that the terrorists are likely looking at our response to Katrina and taking notes. As bad as Mother Nature is, she doesn't intentionally plan to kill people.
