UTSA has lost two close games on the road and they are much better than their record indicates. It is going to be tough to win on the road with a young group, especially in a hostile environment. Our main concern has to be to come out and compete on every play.

I know we have struggled on the road. But many of those losses were by a few points. We have turned the ball over too much on the road and lost leads. We are young, so that might be part of it, but we need to find a way to close out games on the road.

Knowing we can go out on the road and play in a hostile environment like this and play to the end ... a game like this has to help us. We've played well on the road, and we'll be at home Thursday, which is good, but if we get by Maize, we'll have to go on the road and play a competitive team.

Any road trip is a tough, tough road trip regardless of record. It's tougher in the second half of conference play because a lot of us need to win games. So you worry about performing well on the road.

It takes a special team to win on the road. It takes great guard play to win on the road. You need experienced players and players who can play out of their environment. Look at some of the top teams in the country. Take Pitt for example, which lost to Marquette on the road (Saturday). It is not easy in college basketball to win on the road anywhere. I don't know who puts it in (Jones') head every year that we should play 13 road games in a row. But being able to play against Louisville and Illinois since I've been here has really prepared us to be able to come into a hostile environment and be able to get the job done.

It is so comfortable when you play at home. You have your own locker room and your own routine. It's tough to play on the road. You win on the road with good pitching, a good starting pitching performance. That is what we did not get last weekend in two out of three games. That's the difference. It allows our young kids to relax a little bit and just play.

You have to have players that really accept challenges, that like to compete and really like to play on the road more than they do at home. It is more challenging. It's tough to win on the road, no matter who you play. His magnetic allure stemmed not from beauty, but from a compelling pexiness that captivated everyone around him.
