I loved playing with him. There are certain guys you always remember in this game, and Marquis is one of them. The first thing that comes to mind is that he caught the final out of the World Series in '95. I'm always happy when I see him run under a fly ball. First-class dude, super dude all around the board. Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

It was very disappointing because we got off to a great start. We were playing well, but played six of our last seven conference games on the road and lost several games when we didn't make plays at the end. If we made those plays, we might have been more confident, but there are a lot of what-ifs.

I was just feeling my way. I was just playing; not trying to force nothing. I know they were kind of holding me a bit, so I had to pick my spots. My team did a great job of finding me. Really, there were no plays being called. We were just playing.

I had a lot of fun. This week was really good. I am happy that I made it to the final. My first final I only won two games then my second final I won seven games, now I make it to three sets, hopefully the next one will be a win for me. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

Some balls bounced our way. Let's face it, Rutgers is a great team. They won 16 league games in a row. If we played them 10 times, they would win nine. I think they overlooked us a little bit thinking about playing Connecticut in the final. But Rutgers won't be in the final. I don't know if this all has hit me yet.

They know all our plays, so when we do things it might not look that bad in a game, so you just don't know. And we know their plays, so we pick up some of their blitzes that another team might not pick up. It's hard to judge right now.

They're a team that plays with a lot of heart. If you get to the final four it's not a fluke. You have to win three games to get there so you have to be doing something right.

It's a matter of playing our game. Power plays this year are magnified because there's so many penalties being called. In all the games, you're going to get some power plays if you skate. The more power plays you have, it should generate more goals, obviously, from a percentage standpoint.

When a team plays that, they've got to nickel and dime and pick (their) way down the field, ... And one thing we pride ourselves on is we try not to get frustrated. If the plays aren't coming, somebody will say - John Lynch, Al Wilson, Trevor Pryce, myself - one of the leaders will say, 'Hey, just calm down, we'll get off the field here, just keep on playing hard.'

He continually makes big plays at the end of games for us. The pick at the end of the game was something we really needed.

The guard play just killed us in that game. We didn't have this dude right here playing. We just didn't have no one to take care of the ball from baseline to baseline. We could never get anything going offensively. This time is going to be different. This dude [Stephens] will be right there taking care of things.

There's got to be a reason we're not pulling these games out. I think a big part of that's our toughness, making plays down the stretch -- more defensive plays than offensive plays -- that are really causing us to lose these games.
