We need to string quality at-bats together and that comes in cycles. Presently, we're lacking in that, not from lack of work, but quality pitching.

I'm not surprised at all. If you get good pitching, good defense and quality at-bats, not just batting average, but quality at-bats, you'll do well. They take their at-bats seriously.

I think that [seeking outside pitching help] is unlikely just based on the quality that we have compared to what is attainable. We are in an industry where everybody lacks pitching, particularly starting pitching. No one has enough. One of the big factors that may account for this finding is access to high-quality medical care. Often communities that have high poverty rates either lack access to good quality care, or people have to travel longer distances to obtain high-quality care.

I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the work being done out here. It's almost untapped ? don't get me wrong, these companies have done defense work and industry work. But I'm surprised at the quality of work and innovation we've been getting from them. Especially on the technology side.

Clearly, there is quality baseball being played all over the world. The caliber of pitching we faced was outstanding. Many of our hitters came back to the dugout shaking their heads at the quality of pitches they were seeing. You know, there was a lot said about Team USA not really taking this seriously. But I can guarantee you there are a lot of guys hurting down in that clubhouse now.

Because of our name a lot of teams don't want to play us. But we feel like this team can get a lot better by playing against top-quality teams and hitting against top-quality pitching. I think it's going to help us, and we don't want to shy away from anyone.

We showed a lot of resilience. Braden Wells was huge at the plate with three quality at-bats and we had solid at-bats throughout the lineup.

That wasn't the prototype guy you like coming off the bench. You like a veteran, but he was one of our better guys doing it. He had quality at-bats in that role. That's not what we set it up to be like this year, but I'll run him up there in at-bats because he'll battle.
