It is kind of a pep team for the instrument and girls in general.

I also think being in a band in general has more to do with team sports, in a strange way. It's like being in this team activity. That traditionally was not the domain of women or girls.

We're happy to get a win. The girls battled against a good team. These are the kind of games we need before the tournament. We got behind and came back. The girls now know they can do that.

Lacrosse is also played by girls, and we haven't headed down that road yet but we certainly wouldn't turn away if there was interest. We just kind of got things going with the boys' teams. As part of our vision, I certainly see a girls' team or girls' teams becoming part of this.

The girls were on a mission to send a message that we are still a team to be reckoned with. Having Permian was kind of a challenge for us, and I think the girls felt like we owed them one from that first game. I was proud of their effort.

I thought the girls did very well. It's hard to compete with just two girls. I think if we had any kind of support, we could make Jerome a decent team. Hopefully we can pick up a couple more gymnasts next season.

Our girls were out there to have some fun. When you're going against a team that has this kind of talent level, that can be kind of difficult, though. ... We all know what the trip to Hilton Head Island is like.

For the team and the program, this means we're moving upwards. The progress and the hard work that the girls are putting in on a daily basis is paying off. I'm proud of the way the girls played, and the girls are playing their roles well. It was truly a team effort.

In general, I think our girls swam well. Some of the freshman girls got to swim, and I hadn't really anticipated that. That was really great. We had some best times, too, so that was really good.

These girls talk team, they speak team, they behave team. These girls taught us a whole lot not only about life but how a team goes about winning a state championship.

My girls have stepped up to challenges all year. I think they're kind of excited to be playing the No. 1 team in the country to see where our team stands against the elite.

It's mainly to start the conversation and talk about a movement that's well on its way and coming, getting the girls to play the instrument.

The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

As a whole team, it's by far the hardest [working team I've had]. I've had individuals, a group of three or four [in the past]. This year, I haven't had less than 12 girls in the weight room every day. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. Even over Christmas break, the worst turnout I had was 10 girls. There's only 18 on the team.

Some of us had been playing together on a travel team since we were fourth-graders. And we were pretty good. We had girls from all over the place, kind of like a Walsh County all-star team. I know that made it easier for some of us.
