It's the first time the GTO.R will be on the pole and it's been a hard road getting here. We've had some difficulties in qualifying since late June when these cars started racing, and we've made big improvements to the car each time. Now all we have to do is win. en The first couple times we raced there it was pretty tough, because it was a one-groove track. It's obviously come a long way.

en Dover is a tough track to repeat success on. It's so fast. Just the fact that the track is concrete, and you are constantly being thrown towards the wall coming out of the corners, makes this a difficult track for everyone. You have to be aware of everything going on, because things happen quickly and sometimes there's just nowhere to go.

en If there were a track on the circuit where I wished we raced more it would be New Hampshire. The fact that I have always liked the track as a competitor does not hurt either. I always felt I had a slight home court advantage over the other drivers because I have run so many laps there, and I use that to my advantage.

en For me, it feels a lot like short track and everyone at some point here and raced short track and trained on it. It really helps.

en We are trying to secure a grant from the Nike Foundation, but we have to come up with half the money before we can apply. We are close to that amount, but we still need more help. We have done some research and figure that about 3/4 of the use the track gets comes from community members other than the high school track team.

en We lost a friend, almost a person. He has helped make the track as popular as he is -- not only in Louisiana, but Texas people, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. We want to name a race after him and we want to bury him on the track.

en Indoor track always has much less preparation than outdoor track, since we don't have an indoor track. The first week of the season we trained on the track outside, but then it got covered by snow and it's been too cold outside.

en I have a near-death experience and a win (at Stockton 99). This is my home track, since I live pretty close. The track has sentimental value to me.

en It's not easy here, it's a tough track. And I haven't always played my best golf at the right time. This track, you got to hit the ball well.

en I'm not sure what happened to the track, whether someone was dropping oil or what, but the track was very slick in the afternoon. I was losing three-tenths per lap on a couple of the turns. It was very tough to drive.

en If you talk to a lot of the drivers, I think most of them will tell you that Richmond is one of their favorite tracks. It's just a driver's track. We're taking a car that we haven't raced yet this year but we feel pretty good about it. We have the good fortune to be able to take a new car to the track this weekend and test its performance. Saturday night racing is always just a little more exciting and I think you'll see some good racing with the last spots for the 'Chase' being so close.

en That's helped a lot. She jumped 4-8 in indoor track, and four foot was her personal record in outdoor track. She should break her own record in that again this year. She's more or less still in shape too.

en Whew that was some work out there. ... We took a gamble tonight. I have raced here 4 times here this year before tonight and all 4 nights the track got slick. So we decided to go with our 360 tonight and use the less horsepower to our advantage. It figures the track would be heavy. We gave em a good run though and we feel real good about our finish. Next weekend barring any unforeseen problems we should win the VRA/Bandit Sprints Grand Slam. No worries!
