en Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se. We are expecting some positive news out of an Intel Developer Forum being held this week in San Francisco, which might involve RIM.

en You've got some positive news on oil, some negative news on Oracle and some mixed news from the producer price index. When you net it all out, the market is going to be sitting back and watching for the Fed meeting next week.

en Intel gave us a good preview of the quarter, but oil suffocated the positive news.

en The ISM Services data saved us from the Intel news this morning. With Intel there has been a lot of negative news that was already built in, so some of it may have been priced in. Investors now see the services sector is still growing, which is relieving the pressure the market has been under.

en Intel is obviously a bellwether that has to be paid attention to. The numbers were quite good and more importantly the guidance was good. This should put a floor under Intel's stock. But Intel's news doesn't change the larger picture for tech.

en So far the earnings season has gotten off to an underwhelming start. I think the positive news from Intel is just what the market needed and is likely to lead to a favorable opening on Wednesday.

en The market may not be able to overlook Intel's warning, but the fact that it's able to absorb the negative news without a steep price decline is a positive signal.

en The fundamental news and the inflation news remain quite positive. We had that big six-week rally in October. Stocks at this exact moment just don't seem ready to stop this correction.

en This is the week of very little economic data, so these mid-quarter updates are what's getting the attention this week, ... The Texas Instruments report and the positive Intel expectations are what driving things in early going. But we'll be watching the (fuel) inventories. That could slow things down.

en A lot of the best news is associated with the PC industry. Intel has been not just a bellwether in the sense that it's big, but in the sense that technology as an industry has returned to positive year-over-year growth rates, and technology as an industry tends to be delivering more upside surprises than downside surprises these days. Intel started to do that earlier and more substantially than the rest of technology.

en Overall, the Intel mid-quarter update was quite bullish. I would suspect unless something major happens overnight you are looking at a higher opening based on the Intel news.

en We're going to need to see follow-through from Intel. Good news from Intel could set a tone and start to give those that were most fearful about the outlook for chip stocks less reason to be concerned.

en The news created volume on positive speculation about other potential corporate mergers. However, last week was a down week, so we have a little bit of a bounce-back rally Monday.
