Rather than indicating any rise in inflationary pressure, the data out ... with today's prices paid are pointing to receding inflation pressures.

There's some concern that although inflationary pressures do appear to have receded in recent days, higher fuel prices could reignite worries here and this in turn has the potential to weigh on stocks across the board.

Growth looks solid. The problem is prices paid were up again, suggesting inflation pressures remain a concern.

The oil prices are creating a few problems. Prices are impacting the PPI report and also consumer prices and are also hurting our trade balance, what with the weaker dollar, because we have to pay more to import oil. However, there aren't a lot of inflationary pressures here beyond that.

I?m surprised that grocery prices haven?t been more inflationary, and I guess they will eventually. I think we?re lucky that prices are as stable as they are.

oil had a measurable impact on prices paid before the storm (Hurricane Katrina). Given the fact that we are now seeing energy supply interruptions the prices paid index will almost certainly be back above 70 next month, and it's very likely the headline index will fall further on weakness in both production and orders.
