Although there were many points in Intel's results that could give investors pause, we actually believe the majority of the market will view the release with a large degree of relief.

We knew it was coming but there were some rumors of a possible 50 basis point cut (a half a percentage point) and every time that happens it sets us up for disappointments. The reality is a very large majority of people don't know how to react to this so they're taking their cue from the market. It's really indecision.

Large is the place to be. The market has been rewarding investors in large cap, and rewarding investors on a relative basis in mid cap, but quite frankly, it is an on-again/off-again type of thing with the small cap, and the small cap is not a place to go. The market is not signaling to me that you should play it on the small cap side, mid cap is fine, large cap is definitely the place to be.

Local market sentiment was also buoyed by overseas investors, who had placed large net buy orders ahead of the market opening today. This helped prompt retail investors here to step up purchases.

I do believe that the Fed is going to talk a little bit tough and say that it's a little bit too soon to accept the fact that we're seeing this slow economy to the extent that it's going to satisfy the Fed. And I believe that is what is going to keep the market in check. And it's another situation the Fed wants to try to control. They do want to keep this market in check. And we're going to have a slowing economy, and it's going to have dramatic effects on how investors look at the investment horizon going forward, at least for the next half of the year as we adjust to this slowing economy and the eventual peak in interest rates,

This large inflow is an important prop for the Treasury market, helping keep yields in their current low trading range, ... Not only is the inflow large relative to new Treasury supply, it may also help stabilize the market when it comes under pressure. If investors start to shy away from the U.S. market, the dollar comes under downward pressure and the Asian central banks pile in to support the U.S. market.

We're concerned that S&P (Standard & Poor's, a bond rating agency) might be watching this situation. And we're concerned for all the businesses that depend on the port in the region if the river is not dredged. A lot of sectors are watching this very closely.

This is a trading market until the Iraq situation is resolved. Every day the market is going to react to what the news is that day.

I think the market is in pretty good shape right now. The economy is improving, and you're seeing investors react to that.

There's absolutely no corporate credibility out there and investors are starting to walk, ... I really don't see this market turning around unless something dramatic happens, but I just don't know what that could be.

Investors are concerned about increasing inflationary pressures and they'll be watching the payrolls numbers closely for signs of that. We're still not interested in buying Treasuries, because there is room for yields to go higher.
